Happy New year. How is life going? Today I am going to do a “bookish update” which I haven’t done in ages but I think I should do it more often.I enjoy doing them because I can see what I am doing in my bookish life. I should make it into a tag really, but I don’t feel like there are questions you need to answer. You just talk about any bookish things. If you still don’t get it; it is basically a life update but for books. That’s where I got the idea from. Right, let’s start with this update. Also, a disclaimer any images that are mine will be stated but the photos that are not are not mine. So I give all credit to the owner.
The last book I read was Turtles all the way down by John Green. I am currently writing my review for it. Because I do handwritten reviews; to try and show off my creativity. Also so I have a physical record of my reviews. I borrowed the book from my school library and I was surprised to see that I was the second person to take out the book, because John Green is a popular author in my school. And it was his latest book. Whilst reading this book. I put sticker notes on the pages that contain my favourite quotes. I am going to share one that shouldn’t ruin the book for anyone wanting to read it.
“Holmesy, everything’s working out.Our destiny is coming into focus. We are about to live the American Dream, which is, of course, to benefit from someone else’s misfortune.”
Next, my current reads. For Christmas, I got Empire Of Storms one of the books in the throne of glass series. It is the 5th book in the series. The more you get into the series the thicker the books get. Empire of Storms is 600+ pages. Whenever I read a book from the Throne Of Glass series because it is high fantasy. I read another book to balance out the hight fantasy in it.
So the other book I am reading to balance out is The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas. I got this book a long time ago. I don’t why I didn’t read it because books in this category I really enjoy reading. Any about social issue I really enjoy. But I don’t enjoy about reading about any social issues. The Hate U Give is about the killing of a black boy for no reason. It seems to happen too much in America. And I think one of the things we can use to fight back is writing. If it is down on paper. All you could do is burn it. And what makes it even better it is written by a Black person. So the stuff in it is actually true and relatable.
Hopefully, you enjoyed the update. I think it is one of the most detailed blog posts I have done. I hope you have a nice day.
